Walk-On and Rental Play
Spike's Paintball is a great place for those who own their own gear, and who want to play - but it's also great for those who have never played before.
We also rent all the equipment you'll need to play: full-face goggles compliant with all safety standards, green overjerseys (like hockey jerseys), paintball markers, air propellant tanks and paint.
Walk-On Players
Walk-On Players are players that already own their own equipment - that is, full-face goggles, marker, and propellant tank, and who have their own paintball clothing (usually camouflage or olive drab.) Walk-On Players at Spike's don't pay walk-on fees - they simply buy their paint and propellant gas, and play! Please note that Spike's Paintball, like all commercial fields, is field-paint-only - you must buy your paint at the field. This ensures that only quality washable paint is used, and that other players' clothing will not be stained or damaged.
Walk-On Players can purchase paint at $0.10 per ball (i.e. $10.00 per hundred) - you can purchase in any round quantity (25, 50, 100, etc.) You also have the option to purchase an entire bag of paint (500 rounds) at a discount - $40.00 per bag, or $0.08 per ball in bags of 500. Propellants are sold according to type: CO2 (carbon dioxide) fills are $5.00 for 16oz or smaller tanks, $10.00 for 20oz or larger. High Pressure Air (HPA) is $5.00 for the day - you can refill as many times as you like! CO2 is less consistent - the pressure supplied by the tank varies with the temperature and how much fluid remains in the tank. HPA is not stored as a fluid, and air temperature has far less effect on pressure, so it shoots more consistently, making you a more accurate player!
Please note: you cannot fill a CO2 tank with HPA - high pressure air tanks are completely different. Check with the Supply Trailer for details and to see the difference!
Rentals
Rental Players can rent the full set of equipment (goggles, jersey, marker, HPA propellant tank and 100 rounds) for $20.00, and can buy extra ammo at the same rates as Walk-On Players ($0.10 per ball, or $0.08 per ball if you buy a bag of 500.) You can split the bag of 500 with your friends, and save money. For Rentals, your air refills are included in your rental fee. We highly recommend that you wear older clothing - although our paint is completely washable, you will be playing in a woods-type natural environment, and you can get dirty! Also, please be sure to wear full-length pants, as your jersey only covers your upper body!
Our Paint, Our Markers
As mentioned above, Spike's is a field-paint-only field, and all paint used must be purchased from our Supply Trailer. We use high-quality RPS Stinger recreational paint which washes out easily and doesn't stain.
Our paintball markers are Tippmann 98 Customs gas blowback units, which are the best-known field markers in the world. They are tough, and last for years with very little maintenance, and make an excellent choice as a first marker. We are also considering Smart Parts Vibe and SP-1 markers, entry-level electropneumatic markers, as upgrades in our "fleet."
Our goggles are V-Force Vantage Field models, Canadian-made and the most comfortable field goggles you'll find.
